1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Kirin Mastering (operated by Daisuke Nishio) handles information in connection with kirinmastering.com and the Kirin software products: Kirin Hypha, Kirin Sense, and Kirin OS.

2. Order, evaluation, payment, and complimentary-license data
Paid products may be purchased through LemonSqueezy. Kirin Sense and Kirin OS are also sold directly in Japan through Stripe Checkout in Japanese yen. The payment processor collects the payment-card and billing details required to complete the transaction.
LemonSqueezy acts as Merchant of Record for transactions completed through LemonSqueezy. For direct sales in Japan, Kirin Mastering is the seller and Stripe provides payment processing.
For a direct Japanese purchase, Stripe collects a required billing address. Kirin Mastering's commerce database stores the purchaser's encrypted email address, purchase amount and currency, billing country, and Stripe transaction identifiers. It does not store a full card number or full billing address. Purchase information is used for fulfillment, license management, transaction records, refunds or disputes, and support. It is not used for marketing.
When Kirin Mastering provides a complimentary Kirin Sense or Kirin OS license, the commerce database stores the recipient's email address in encrypted form, an HMAC fingerprint used for matching, the product, the approved reason category, issuance status, and license-delivery status. No payment or billing details are collected for this grant. This information is used only to issue, deliver, recover, support, audit, or revoke that license, and not for marketing.

3. License authentication
License authentication uses the provider that issued the entered key. LemonSqueezy-issued keys use LemonSqueezy's license verification API. A KJP1 key issued after a direct Japanese purchase or as a complimentary license uses Kirin Mastering's license API. The application transmits:
- Your license key (as entered by you)
- A device identifier (an instance name for LemonSqueezy, or a stable random device UUID for a KJP1 key)
This data is sent to prevent unauthorized use and manage the 3-device activation limit. The commerce database stores the KJP1 key in encrypted form so that it can be delivered again to the purchaser or complimentary-license recipient. The Kirin Mastering API uses domain-separated HMAC fingerprints of the key and device UUID for lookup and activation records rather than storing those raw values in those records. Audio files, project records, and measurement results are not sent for license authentication.
4. Application data (Kirin Sense / Kirin OS)
All measurement data and project data created within Kirin Sense and Kirin OS are stored locally on your device in .kirin files. At the present time, no application data is uploaded to remote servers by Kirin Mastering.
If you choose to share .kirin files with others, you are responsible for the content of those files and any personal or copyrighted material they may contain.
5. Kirin Hypha (plugin)
Kirin Hypha is a fully local, open-source application. At the present time, Kirin Hypha does not collect, transmit, or process any data beyond what takes place on your local machine.
6. License fulfillment
LemonSqueezy delivers and manages keys for LemonSqueezy orders. For a direct Japanese Kirin Sense or Kirin OS purchase, Kirin Mastering issues the KJP1 key after Stripe confirms payment, shows it on the protected completion page, and sends the purchase email through Resend. For an approved complimentary license, Kirin Mastering issues a separate KJP1 key without a payment transaction and sends it to the recipient through Resend; the key is not displayed in the administrator's browser. A purchaser or complimentary-license recipient can request new time-limited download access by providing the matching email address and license key.
7. Website (kirinmastering.com)
This website, the direct-sale and complimentary-license APIs, and private download delivery are hosted on Vercel. Direct Japanese order, complimentary-grant, and license records are hosted on Neon. These providers may process infrastructure and security records needed to operate their services.
This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure page visits, referral sources, and selected interactions such as opening or sending the mastering inquiry form. Vercel Web Analytics stores anonymized data and does not use cookies. Names, email addresses, and message contents are not included in analytics events.
If you use the mastering inquiry form, the name, email address, project details, links, and message you choose to provide are sent through Resend to Kirin Mastering at hello@kirinmastering.com. This information is used to reply to the inquiry and discuss the requested work, not for marketing.
8. User content and intellectual property
Kirin Sense and Kirin OS are tools that process audio files and generate measurement data. The copyright and intellectual property rights of any audio or other content you process using these tools remain with you. Kirin Mastering claims no rights over your content.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of these tools complies with applicable laws, including copyright law.
9. Data retention and deletion
License authentication data held by LemonSqueezy can be requested for deletion directly through LemonSqueezy's services. For a direct Japanese purchase or complimentary license, privacy and deletion requests may be sent to hello@kirinmastering.com. Transaction records may be retained where required for tax, accounting, dispute, fraud-prevention, or other legal obligations. Complimentary-grant audit records may be retained where needed to prevent duplicate issuance, investigate misuse, or document revocation.
Mastering inquiries are retained in Kirin Mastering's email records while needed to reply, prepare or carry out the requested work, and keep relevant business records. You may request deletion where legally applicable.
Local application data (.kirin files and project data on your device) can be deleted at any time by uninstalling the application or removing the files manually.

10. Your rights (EU/EEA residents — GDPR)
If you reside in the European Union or the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding your personal data held by Kirin Mastering:
- Right of access — You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure — You may request deletion of your personal data where legally applicable.
- Right to restriction of processing — You may request that processing of your data be limited in certain circumstances.
Kirin Mastering processes personal data in line with the principle of data minimization under GDPR.
As a sole proprietorship of limited scale, a dedicated Data Protection Officer (DPO) has not been appointed.

12. Changes to this policy
If this policy is updated, the revised version will be published on this website with an updated "Last updated" date. In the event of a significant change, Kirin Mastering will make reasonable efforts to notify affected users through the applicable purchase email channel, where available.
