1. Scope
These Terms apply to audio and project information submitted to Kirin Mastering for mastering work. Project-specific details remain subject to what Kirin Mastering and the client confirm for that project.
2. Booking and payment
Work is scheduled after Kirin Mastering has received the final source files and payment. Japan orders can be paid in JPY by bank transfer or card. International orders can be paid in USD by card or PayPal.
3. Review and delivery
Two rounds of mastering adjustments after the first master are included. If further adjustments are requested, Kirin Mastering will confirm any additional charge before carrying out that work.
Delivery is usually within seven business days after the final source files and payment have arrived. The schedule for projects of five tracks or more is confirmed for each project. The main delivery format is 24-bit WAV. Other formats may be prepared for the agreed release requirements.
4. Replacement mixes and cancellations
If a replacement mix is supplied after mastering has begun, Kirin Mastering will check the changes first. Any charge for additional work will be provided before work restarts.
Cancellations made before mastering begins are refundable. Once work has begun, Kirin Mastering will review the work completed and costs already incurred, then provide the refundable amount. If Kirin Mastering cannot complete the project, Kirin Mastering and the client will discuss a refund or another way forward.
5. Kirin OS license
One Kirin OS license is provided with the client's first confirmed project and may be used again for later Kirin Mastering projects. If the first project is fully refunded, that license is deactivated.
6. Rights in submitted material
Rights in audio, project information, production notes, and other submitted material remain with the client or the relevant rights holder. The client confirms that the client has the rights or permission needed to provide the material for mastering.
7. Confidential handling
Submitted audio, unreleased project information, production notes, and communications are handled only as needed to respond to the inquiry and perform the mastering work. How a project may be referred to publicly will be confirmed with the client.
8. Retention and deletion
The client may contact Kirin Mastering to request deletion of submitted audio after the work is complete. Kirin Mastering does not guarantee long-term archival storage. The client should keep backups of the original audio and delivered files.
9. Responsibility
Kirin Mastering performs the work from the material and instructions supplied by the client. The client makes the final approval and release decision.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, liability for direct and ordinary loss caused by Kirin Mastering's ordinary negligence is limited to the amount paid for the project concerned. This limit does not apply to intentional conduct, gross negligence, or liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
